Campo Verde Mexican Restaurant in Arlington, TX

My reason for going to Arlington was to visit with friends I hadn't seen in a while. Here we are at a wonderful Mexican restaurant - Campo Verde. There's me, Georgia Frady, Skip Summers, Kay Brewer, and Jerry Cope. We had a great evening!

Treetops RV Resort in Arlington, TX

My site at Treetops RV Resort in Arlington, TX. This park had a very convenient location and a wonderful staff. I got over 200 channels on the cable TV. I had a great site and even though it poured rain I enjoyed the park. I was disappointed that I didn't get to go swimming in their pool but I am enjoying the cooler weather.

Thousand Trails of Texas rally at Lake Whitney

I have a GREAT campsite here. I have full hookups and shade. It is nice and quiet. I did have a problem setting up when a bee got very angry and stung me more then once on my right thumb. It took a week for all the swelling to go away.

Time to leave Boerne

Most people left on Monday but I had planned to stay over until Tuesday. I had a very good time sitting out Monday night talking to friends Jay & Stella and Tommy & Susan who also stayed over.

The next day I planned to leave before noon but I woke up in the middle of the night to rain. Fortunately I had hooked up my car and put everything away outside. The rain continued to pour down and my dogs will not go out in the rain...... so we waited. There was a 3-4" deep "lake" surrounding my motorhome. Finally the rain took a break and I hurried the dogs out and unplugged the electric cord, ready to leave. Then nothing......the motorhome wouldn't start. By this time it was pouring again. I called AAA and they said they would send someone. After an hour I called the park office because I could not leave by check out time. Finally AAA arrived and was able to jump start the motorhome. I headed to WalMart to find out why my battery had gone dead.

The battery was less than one year old. WalMart wanted to take 1.5 hrs. to charge it and I told them I didn't have that much time. They ended up giving me a new battery under the warranty so I could finally get on my way to meet my friend in Austin.

I went to McKinney Falls State Park in Austin to meet my friend, Alan. I delivered things he had left in the motorhome on our trip to Arizona and he brought some acrylic wine glasses I had asked him to get for me. We had a nice dinner at Red Lobster and it was pouring rain again when he brought me back to the campground.

The next day I left for another rally at Thousand Trails Lake Whitney.

I won the grand prize!!!

I was shocked when I won the grand prize, a Dirt Devil central vacuum system (value $250) donated by RV Upgrades. Thanks to Hank DiGiovanni for installing it for me. This has been great!

Texas Boomers 10th Anniversary Celebration

I was supposed to pick up my motorhome from RV Masters by the end of August and head out for a leisurely trip to Boerne. They found a fuel line leak and wouldn't let me leave until the new fuel line passed all tests. I had to cancel my reservation at Thousand Trails in Columbus. Finally the coach passed the safety test and I headed over to pick it up. My daughter helped me load everything and I took off late in the afternoon on Sept. 2nd. The drive to Boerne was horrible. It started raining as soon as I passed Sealy. What should have been a 4 hour drive took me 6.5 hours. I stopped at a rest area and was very grateful to have a motorhome. It was raining so hard outside so the dogs would not go out but with the MH I was able to walk back to my facilities. There were lots of 18 wheelers on the road and they all seemed to spray me with water, making it hard to see. There was lightning everywhere. At one point an 18 wheeler passed me spraying water just as the lightning flashed and there was a solid white wall in front of me. Apparently I ended up in the next lane because another 18 wheeler blew his horn at me to get out of his lane. Boy, that scared me! I was shaking, but there was no place to pull off the road. Fortunately when I turned off I-10 to Loop 1604 the rain stopped. I made it the rest of the way to the campground with no problems (thanks to Sandy Creekmore's directions) and pulled right into my campsite.
