It rained most of the weekend but my site was pretty well-protected by the trees. It did make for good sleeping weather. ;-)

I hated to leave but I needed to get back home for a foot doctor's appointment on Monday. Google Maps said the trip home should have taken 4 hours 31 mins. but it took me exactly 8 hours. I stopped in Mexia, TX at a Wal-Mart. I shopped, ate lunch, walked the dogs, and when I wanted to leave the motorhome would not start. The Lord was looking out for me though. Fortunately I had the WM phone number on the receipt and they came over to jump start the MH. They checked out the battery and since I had a WM battery they gave me a pro-rated price for a new battery. The WM also had the best gas price around so I filled up there before heading down the road. The rain followed me most of the way home but when I got close to my house in Cypress it was dry. How did I know my yard wasn't getting the benefit of all the rain I had coming home?

FMCA Business Meeting

The business meeting was fun and it brought everyone together. I got my FMCA flag and patch, a set of Bylaws, and a Directory with everyone's pictures. The Directory will really help me to learn who everyone is and keep straight who belongs with which spouse (most are married). Even though I was a "newbie" they made me feel like part of the group and I am glad I joined them.

Thousand Trails of Texas FMCA Rally 9/11 - 9/13

I met many very nice people attending my first FMCA Rally. As with any rally there was lots of food and plenty of games to play.

Thousand Trails of Texas FMCA Rally

I had a beautiful campsite in the trees at Thousand Trails Lake Whitney. This is a very nice park. I was here when Hurricane Rita was headed for Houston but I really didn't get to appreciate the park then. This is the only place I have not been able to get reception with my Verizon air card (maybe it was the trees) but they did have a strong wi-fi signal there. The cell phone reception was not good but if I went outside and stood on one foot it was better. ;-))

Texas Boomer Labor Day Rally 2009

We had SO much FUN here!!! I even won one hand of LCR and ended up ahead for a change. The auction was the best part with members bringing wrapped gifts that we bid on. There were some really nice gifts and some "fun" gifts like the pregnancy test that Judy got. That escalated to a cooler bag that became a "diaper bag", and some wind chimes that became the "baby's mobile", and the delivery of baby "Dunkette". It was hilarous!!!

Arrived in Burleson on 9/4 with great anticipation of the Texas Boomer Labor Day Rally. I put out my flamingos and lights and was ready to have fun. My campsite was perfect - it was directly across from the rally hall, laundry, and swimming pool. We were at RV Ranch.

Austin visit and McKinney Falls State Park

I went to Austin 9/2 - 9/4 to visit my friend Alan. I stayed at McKinney Falls State Park and had a very nice site there.
